There is a high influx of skilled professionals perennially, in Bangalore-the silicon valley of India, most of whom are starting work at their first jobs. Many a times to find an accommodation, this young population has to either pay a high brokerage, or co-live with incompatible individuals. Currently, the only source available to connect with individuals who either need a flat or a flat-mate is through groups on Facebook or word of mouth. I inferred this to be a very unorganized market and with a strong need amongst consumers.
After doing a primary research, we realized that there are various such platforms available globally but none yet in India. We deeply studied these available apps and made a list of their best features. Soon to realize the need in India is different for our audience. After interacting with colleagues, friends, and family residing in rental accommodations, the three most major concerns that came up were safety, compatibility, and authenticity. These became the pillars of our concept.
We used a low code app development platform to rapidly prototype our concept and test it with a live audience for feedback, following the iteration of - Think, Make, Break, Repeat. The platform worked on tables, by creating logic between different sheets and columns.
After a marketing outreach campaign on social media groups such as Facebook, Loft Livin' onboarded over a hundred users in it's first month of launch. While there were intial bugs, personal feedback from these users revealed great satisfaction and a genuine need for such an application online which made us feel ecstatic.
However, due to extremely high operating costs for scaling the platform and with negligible revenue generation initially, we decided to put the app on pause. Hopefully, we will take this project live again with better financial planning.
